All Things Bright and Musical--- Next Sunday, Sept. 12, from 4:30-6:00. All children, age four (by Sept. 1) through grade 5, are invited to come and have fun at several different musical activity stations. The kick-off will end with a short demonstration in which the children share the day’s activities with their parents. Come to check out the children’s choir program for the new season! Youth Chorale and Youth Handbells begin their season as helpers for this event (please arrive by 4:15 for your assignments).

Men’s Bible Study this fall will study the Book of Hebrews.  It is a compelling call to faithfulness in the face of resistance, based on a searching examination of who Jesus is and what he has done.  We will all grow from studying this book.  Join us beginning Sept. 19, 5:00-6:00 p.m., in the parlor.

New Handbell Opportunity for Adults.  Are you interested in exploring the world of ringing handbells?  Adults who have some music reading knowledge are invited to be a part of a short-term Bell Choir.  We will learn fundamentals and practice musical skills (especially rhythmic reading) that are needed in bell choir ringing. We will also play handbell compositions. The session will be held on the Tuesdays in September, beginning on Sept. 7, from 1:30-2:30.  Please contact Randy Sheets at the church if you are interested. If you have advanced music reading skills, you may wish to discuss with Randy the possibility of joining the Spring Hill Ringers, our advanced adult ringing choir.

The Fall Wednesday night program “Abiding in Christ” will begin on September 8 and go through November 3. Various speakers from our church and city will share their inspiring stories of faith. Dinner at 5:45 in the Fellowship Hall and program will begin at 6:30. Activities for children and youth and a nursery are provided. Wednesday Night Dinner Reservations are required. As a courtesy to our wonderful cooks we ask that you make a reservation each week.  We will no longer accept "standing reservations." Please fill out the tear-off section of your bulletin, call the church office or email sconnell@springhillpresbyterian.org.

Alcohol Anonymous will meet on Thursdays each week at 5:30 p.m. in Room 7 in the Edington Building. The meeting will be an open discussion group.

Purpose Driven small groups…Fall is here and we hope you are getting together or have plans to get together! A small group subcommittee is presently being formed to help guide established groups and to form new groups. More information and training for leaders coming soon. In the meantime contact Pastor Sid for help and guidance.

Most people have times when they feel the need to have a trustworthy person to listen and help them sort out feelings about situations or problems with which they must deal. Spring Hill Presbyterian has volunteer Stephen Ministers available and willing to help at such times, and Christian love and confidentiality are the basis of Stephen Ministry. Please call Margaret Miller at 344-3937 for information about the program.

From the Stewardship Committee: When preparing for a Communion service in 1707, Isaac Watts wrote the hymn, “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” as a personal expression of his gratitude for what Jesus had done on the Cross. The great theologian Matthew Arnold called this the greatest hymn in the English language. (See in our Blue Hymnal #101.) The last stanza expresses very movingly what one feels in response to Christ’s sacrifice and love. It expresses why we want to give to Him and to His kingdom the first fruits of what we have received. “Were the whole realm of nature mine, that were a present far too small; Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.”

Please fill out a prayer request card in the Ritual of Friendship booklet and drop it in the offering plate. Your name is not necessary. God knows. The prayer team prays each Tuesday from 6 to 7 pm in the Bride’s Room. We would also love to have you join us in prayer.
